My Child....Tantrums???

My daughter was the perfect baby. She reached many of her milestones early & she slept though the night very early on. We did not have to do any baby proofing, including putting a gate at the top of the stairs. When you told this little girl "no," she listened the very first time. I do not recall her throwing any tantrums out in public. Like I said she was the perfect baby, honest, so when I would see other children misbehaving badly in the store for whatever reason, I always said, "that will never be me!" I'm sure you can guess what happened....I had another child & my son is an expert at throwing tantrums. He head butts, hits, kicks & occasionally bites. Oh, and boy,can he SCREAM!!!!

Before having my son, I was sure that my children would always be well behaved in public. Haha, right? Why would I think anything different when my first child behaved so well? I never knew I'd be in for a BIG wake up call!!! Never thought I'd feel like running & hiding in the clothes racks.

The moral of my story is to not judge another parent when their child isn't behaving as well as you'd like, because you never know what you might be in for. :)

Letting go.....just a little

Apparently, when you turn seven you think you are "almost" grown. :) It is amazing how quickly a child can change in such a short amount of time. The little girl who used to depend on me for everything, who was basically another appendage, is truly becoming a little more independent everyday. It's great, wonderful, sad & scary all at the same time. I can really tell she is understanding more about her world, peers & her father & I. Just a few weeks ago, she started picking out her own clothes; something that I have done since she was born, which I love doing, but I know the time has come for her to do it. She now has her own sense of style, that sometimes scares me, but I try to remember back to when I was that age. Do you know what she told me the other day when we were school clothes shopping? She said that the clothes I picked out looked like "old lady clothes!" LOL Wow! Don't know where that came from. I thought I was doing pretty good at keeping up with her "fashion." They grown so quickly & time can sometimes pass us by, but we have to remember that they are little only once & we have a short amount of time to impact their lives, teach them right from wrong, instill values & respect of ourselves & others. Before you know it they will be ready to be on their own........must faster than you think!
